Fulton Headstone
« on: March 28, 2006, 08:44:47 PM »
I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this subject. I have been looking at pictures of the Fulton headstone for years, but when I finally got to the Grove and saw it in real life, I saw something that never registered with me.

My husband was looking at the headstone and mentioned that it was strange that the stone was half finished and half rough. When I looked again, I saw that the left side looks unfinished-like rough concrete poured over the stone. The right side has a pillar or pole on it and is smooth.

Is there any significance to one side rough and the other side smooth? I know that there are websites that talk about the symbolism of cemetary statues, headstones, but I don't remember seeing anything about the Grove.

If anyone has info on this, I would like to hear about it. Maybe it has been written about, but in all I've read about the Grove I have not come across it.

ya i noticed that to, but have no explination for it.  One other thing is in the center where it is flat, it looks like theres supposed to be something written there, like a quote or something.  Im not sure if thats right, just something i noticed.
