Question re: Pond
« on: November 06, 2006, 01:06:41 AM »
Has anyone, or group tried diving or snorkeling in the pond to see if there are any dumped (looted, vandalized) gravestones or the like, at least in the adjacent shoreline?

It can't be very deep, and I doubt vandals over the years made much attempt to get heavy objects very far from the edge where they might have thrown things in.

Another one of the problems with stones being in the pond in settling. I believe even if they are there they would have seled into the muck years ago. The amount of rainfall and run off into that pond would keep the bottom pretty churned up causing more settling. Headstones are alsonot light in weight by any means so something that weighs 200lbs or more is surley sank into the abyss.

even during the summer, when the pond is dried up a bit, it still would be difficult at best to search that pond.  We've already tried to think up any way possible: snorkeling, inflatible raft, magnets, etc.  Unless we have a really hot summer and it dries up quite a bit, its pretty much a lost cause.  Sorry to rain on your parade.
